Gilles Corcos, Anne Corcos, Charlie Huizenga and Amy Luers are co-founders of APLV. In the early years of the organization they would live in the communities APLV was working with and work side-by-side with the community members to design and build water systems.
In the mid 1990’s, APLV began to develop a Nicaraguan team to have a permanent presence and created the technical school to train local youth in all aspects of the design, construction and maintenance of water and sanitation systems.
We also added staff to include health and hygiene education and watershed conservation in our projects. Today, APLV is completely run by a Nicaraguan team with support from a Nicaraguan Board of Directors and APLV organizations in the U.S. and France.
